SHAMROCK RUN
WHAT'S NEW FOR 2010

...

  • Field limit of 21,000.  Don’t wait too long to enter.
  • Free adidas tech fabric T-shirt to all participants.  What a deal!  The adidas tech tee retails for $25.  The cost to enter Shamrock ranges from $25 to $30.
  • Free Widmer beverage to all participants.  Throw in the cost of a pint of Widmer and it’s like running Shamrock for FREE!
  • Great incentives for Team Captains.  Organize a team of 20 or more participants and receive a $25 gift card from Stanford’s.  Captains with a team of 30 or more participants also receive a FREE Shamrock hooded sweatshirt!

  • More hooded Shamrock sweatshirts for sale.  We doubled our order for 2010, so everyone has a better chance of getting a sweatshirt.
  • Hooded Shamrock sweatshirts available at Fit Right Northwest.  You don’t have to wait until Shamrock weekend to get your shirt.  You can buy and take home a sweatshirt now by shopping at either of the two Fit Right NW locations.
  • Long sleeve Shamrock T-shirts also for sale.  Available online only, Shamrock “traditionalists” can maintain their Shamrock long-sleeve T-shirt collection.
  • Special bottle opener medallion for Shamrock 15km finishers.  Those who finish the challenging Shamrock 15km race will receive a FREE Shamrock bottle opener-style medallion.  Sorry, this item is given only to 15km finishers.

  • Shamrock’s Widmer Beer Garden moved to Waterfront Park.  More room, more serving stations and shorter lines.  Free soft drinks for participants under age 21, too.
  • Stanford’s salmon chowder served, too.  Complimentary salmon chowder served by Stanford’s will also be available near the beer garden.
  • Longer finish area to reduce congestion.  Runners will have a full city block fenced beyond the finish line to catch their breath and turn in their timing chip.
  • Better organized starts to spread out the field.  Runners will be started according to per-mile pace and released in groups to give everyone more running room at the start.  Timing mats at the start line will record each runner’s actual start time.  “Waiting time” won’t be recorded in the results.
  • Improved traffic control and parking at adidas on Shamrock Saturday.  Portland Police officers will be directing traffic and controlling signals to keep vehicles moving near adidas to reduce traffic delays.  More parking will also be available at adidas at Packet Pick-up
